Reflection

Tonight is our last night in the van on what we've called our maiden voyage. It's been absolutely amazing and we've learned so much to prepare ourselves for life on the road! We'll be pros by the end of May when we set off to discover the world! This morning we learned to never ever ever leave the awning out, no matter what! It was a beautiful but very cold night last night so we retired early, neither one of us had a second thought! Boy did we need a second thought, and a third and fourth!! It snowed over a foot of snow in the night! YIKES!! The awning had collapsed on one side and appears to be working fine, maybe a tiny bit bent but so far it works okay! Lesson learned!! We stayed in the van most all day and I even broke out the diamond painting! We also discovered Charlie hates the snow!! And now, as we fall asleep, we'll be dreaming and planning the next road trip in our new home!  Cheers to BC Life! #...

Two Weeks In

Image
After being on the road for 15 days we've come to realize that this van life travel thing is definitely for us!! We've loved every minute of every adventure, even the yuck part of the van rocking! Last night we arrived at the KOA in Castle Rock for a two night camp to finish out our maiden voyage! Little did we know it was going to be such an epic finish.  Our spot was perfect and we enjoyed a cold morning fire with our coffee and I made breakfast with some yummy left overs. We rode our bikes down to the little market a couple times in between the lovely snow showers! Nothing too major and the sun even came out a few times!  We played some pool at the little clubhouse, enjoyed more left overs for dinner and took showers that were free!! All in all, a wonderful quiet day of relaxing and not packing up and moving again! Barry says cheers to BC Life!

Dream Life

Traveling full time is truly a dream and we can't wait for May 31st, the official day of the new chapter in our life! For now we're enjoying each day to it's fullest and practicing this lifestyle! It was a beautiful morning in Hood River and according to the weather map it'll be the last one for awhile! We had breakfast at Bette's Place and will forever remember the massive cinnamon roll! Hood River is officially on our list of "Must Return" cities to spend a week in! It's beautiful! We only had a little under 2 hours to drive to our next stop so we took our time and stopped at the Columbia Gorge Interpretive Museum. What a great decision, it was amazing! Back on the road it was time to head North and had to do some Interstate driving. Bummer!! But then, to our wonderful surprise a casino landed in front of us!! Not just any casino, a massive casino called Ilani! We did...

Yuck!!

Image
The morning started out great with breakfast at Roosters in Pendleton, Oregon. Cute country place with huge portions! With full bellies we hit the road, headed for Hood River. That's where the "yuck" happened! The wind was so bad it rocked the van like we were on the ocean in a storm! My head and tummy both revolted!  We stopped at the Maryhill Museum of Art to take a break from the wind and thoroughly enjoyed the museum. We had no idea what to expect! It settled my tummy and head enough to get back on the road and get to Hood River. Once we checked into our spot at the Gorge Base Camp RV Park we ventured out to the quaint little town for the most amazing dinner of our entire trip! We'll definitely go back to Henni's in White Salmon some day! After dinner we walked a bit of the calories off with a geocaching stroll!  Then back to our ...

Learning & Loving It

Image
After a seedy hotel room and Charlie being a butt hole all night we hit the road bright and early! And boy did we hit the road, lots and lots of road!! We stopped in the side of the road next to the river and I made us a delicious breakfast! Charlie finally got comfortable on his leash and enjoyed all the smells of the great outdoors! We relaxed and enjoyed the sunshine before we got back to the massive amounts of road!! Since we got on the road early, we arrived at our destination nice and early and were able to do laundry at the Whitehorse Casino RV Resort. First time doing laundry in the road!! It cost $7.00 for two loads, not bad! After some celebration shots and relaxing in the sun with Charlie, we were off to make a donation to the local tribes! I did end up winning $400 on Barry's favorite dragon game! Cheers to BC Life!

Back On The Road

Three days in one spot and we were definitely ready to hit the road again for new adventures! It was great to spend so much time with mom and Jeff, what a treat those hot springs were! We had a delicious breakfast at Crane Store, Cafe, Gas & RV Park with them before heading out. Neat little stop in the middle of nowhere! Hugs and kisses and see you soons and off we went heading for John Day Oregon. Our first stop was to stretch our legs and explore the tiny town of Canyon City. A lot of history in this roadside town!  Everything was closed until May but we still got to enjoy the stop with murals on the buildings and plans to return! And there was this house... yes, it was occupied!! Then on to John Day! Again, everything is closed until May but that didn't stop us from exploring! And geocaching! ...
